Privacy Policy
Puja Hopping Privacy Policy
Puja Hopping does not collect your data for its own purposes. There is no account, no login, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no server that belongs to us. This document explains exactly what does and doesn't leave your device, so you can verify it against how the app actually behaves.
What stays on your device
These are held in your phone's app storage and never transmitted anywhere:
- Pandals you save as favourites
- Routes you build, including their names and stop order
- Your language choice
- Whether reminders and the emergency button are switched on
Deleting the app removes all of it. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.
Location
Location is optional. The app works fully without it; pandal, metro and bus information is bundled inside the app itself.
If you grant permission, your coordinates are used on your device to sort the bundled list by distance, and sent to the public OpenStreetMap Overpass service to ask what amenities (food, water, toilets, pharmacies, ATMs) lie within a radius of that point.
Your location is never sent to us; we operate no server. It is never stored, never linked to your identity, and never used for advertising or tracking. It is used in the foreground only; the app does not track your location in the background.
Notifications
Festival reminders are scheduled locally by your device from the built-in Panchang (astronomical calendar) calculations. There is no push server and no notification token; nothing about a reminder is ever transmitted.
Third-party services
The app talks directly to these services, only when the relevant feature is used, and only with the minimum data each request needs:
| Service | What it receives | When |
|---|---|---|
| OpenStreetMap / Overpass API | a coordinate and a search radius | "Near me" (food, transport, essentials) |
| OSRM (FOSSGIS) | your route's stop coordinates | viewing a walking route map |
| CARTO | standard map-tile requests | rendering the map on Android |
| Google Maps / Apple Maps | whatever stop you choose to open | tapping "navigate" |
These services have their own privacy policies and may log request metadata, such as IP addresses, as any web service does. We have no access to those logs and no relationship with these providers beyond using their free, public, keyless endpoints.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the in-app copy (Settings → Privacy) will be updated at the same time.
